European Certification Expands XCub and NX Cub Offerings with 215 HP Lycoming Engine<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

215 HP CC393i-powered NX Cub and XCub <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

YAKIMA, Wash., August 18, 2026<\/strong> \u2014 CubCrafters has received approval from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for the 215 HP version of its flagship XCub, including both the conventional tailwheel XCub and nosewheel NX Cub configurations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The approval adds the CC19-215 model to CubCrafters\u2019 European certification, powered by the fuel-injected Lycoming IO-390-D3B6 engine, marketed by CubCrafters as the CC393i. EASA\u2019s Major Change Approval, issued June 15, 2026, also includes the CC19-215 configuration with nose landing gear and spring main landing gear, extending European certification to the NX Cub configuration. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Technology Partnership Built on Innovation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

CubCrafters introduced the CC393i for the XCub at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh in 2019 as the launch platform for Lycoming’s new dual electronic ignition technology. Developed through a collaboration between CubCrafters and Lycoming, the fuel-injected engine produces 215 HP. It adds only 10 pounds to the aircraft\u2019s empty weight compared with a similar legacy carbureted 180 HP engine option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lightweight design incorporates magnesium components, including the accessory case, oil sump, and cold-air induction system, while building on CubCrafters\u2019 earlier experience with dual electronic ignition in the 186 HP CC363i engine. CubCrafters worked closely with Lycoming to integrate the engine, induction, cooling, ignition, and propeller systems into the XCub platform. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new EASA approval brings the 215 HP CC19-215 to European customers in both tailwheel and nosewheel configurations. For XCub customers, the 215 HP powerplant provides increased performance while retaining the range, useful load, cruise capability, and short takeoff and landing performance that define the aircraft\u2019s mission. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
