Mount Vernon airport (MVN) has a great grass strip to land on\, and is with in 8 hours drive of 50% of the US population. Many great LSA manufacturers will be there. We will have the Carbon Cub on display and doing demo flights.  \nThrough out the days of the event we will do some short field takeoff and landings\, and it should be alot of fun. DESCRIPTION:September 13 – 17\, 2017 \nJoin California Cubs\, CubCrafters dealer in California and Nevada\, for one of the most exciting aviation events in the world!  \nThe National Championship Air Races is the last event of its kind\, carrying on the tradition of the Cleveland Air Races of the 1920s\, 30s and 40s. In 1964\, Bill Stead organized an air race near Reno\, Nevada\, and the Reno National Championship Air Races were born. The event that Bill Stead started in the Nevada desert more than 53 years ago is still going strong. The event has only been cancelled once in September of 2001 when all aircraft in the United States were grounded following the terrorists attacks in New York and Washington. \nHeld every September just north of Reno\, the National Championship Air Races have become an institution for northern Nevada and aviation enthusiasts from around the world. For one week\, the high desert north of Reno becomes home to hundreds of aircraft\, their pilots and crews. Over the past ten years\, the event has attracted more than 1 million spectators and generated more than $600 million for the region’s economy. The event features six racing classes\, a large display of static aircraft and several military and civil flight demonstrations.

The Car Show portion features old autos\, brand new exotic vehicles\, hot rods\, muscle cars\, ex-military vehicles\, and new cars of almost every make. Pets on leashes are welcome\, and a watering station will be provided. Handicapped parking and restrooms are available. \nThere is no entry fee\, but your donation is appreciated. Nearby parking is available at $10\, with proceeds helping to benefit the Boy Scouts.  \nPresented by the Simsbury Flying Club. Proceeds from this event help keep our airport in operation. As a non-profit\, all-volunteer group\, The club receives no funding from any governmental agency. NOTICE: No fuel is available for sale at Old Rhinebeck. Kingston is closest fuel. All Cubs welcomed.  \nCubCrafters STOL Competition 10-11:30 am. Takeoff and landing combined distance\, lowest number. Mains must be off the ground for the takeoff and shortest stopped distance beyond the line. Winner takes home CubCrafters swag.  \nCubCrafters free pancake breakfast and airshow pass for the first 15 airplane arrivals.
