3" Extended Landing Gear
The landing gear vee assemblies are extended 3". This raises the wing to a
higher angle of attack in the three-point altitude. The benefits are (1) a slower
lift-off speed, (2) a shorter take-off run, (3) increased propeller clearance, and
(4) easier and smoother soft field landings.
Why settle for less?
A. Comes with the square tubing
reinforcement for 2000-lb. gross weight increase mod.
B. Heavy-Duty gussets are made of .125"
4130 steel. There is a gusset at each leg,
not just the front leg as found on some HD
gear. We also double the tube where
the gusset is attached to further spread
out the loads. The front main tube
is manufactured from 1.5" x .058" 4130
tubing. The rear tube is 1.375" x .058" 4130
tubing. These are several times stronger
than the original gear legs.
C. Our axles are the strongest in the
industry. We start with a solid piece of
4130 steel, and machine it to exacting
tolerances. We gun bore the center to the
right size, and machine the bearing stops
so that the caliper is positioned precisely
where we want it. The original tube
axles are proven to be weak. With our
machined axle you won't have to wonder
if your gear is up to the challenge!
Our three inch extended gear gives you a better angle of attack.
It is also reinforced and more heavy duty than the stock gear.
Another added benefit is that it will provide clearance for the
McCauley climb prop (Borer).
